Welcome to All Saints

Extending God’s Welcome to All. Committed to Grow: in Discipleship, Service & Numbers

People have been coming to All Saints church in Sanderstead for over 800 years to meet with God. Of course, over the years many things have changed, but one remains the same: at the heart of church life is Jesus Christ, God’s Son, who gave his life by dying on the cross so that all might be forgiven and enjoy eternal life.

This good news is for everyone without exception. Do take a few moments to read more about activities for both children and adults.

Coronavirus Guidelines

On 19 July, we moved to Step 4 of the roadmap out of COVID-19, with the relaxation of most restrictions. However, the Coronavirus has not gone away, and we must continue to be cautious and to follow responsible guidelines. So, please:

  • Use HAND SANITISER on entry and exit.
  • CONGREGATIONAL SINGING is allowed but wear a FACE COVERING at all times, unless you have a medical exemption. Wear a Face Covering even during singing (except the choir). We know that CV19 is spread by moisture particles from mouth and nose.
  • SEATS will no longer be pre-allocated. A ‘zone / seating area’ will be set up in the North Aisle/ St Catherine’s for any who want increased social distancing.
  • If anyone is feeling unwell and / or has any CV-like symptoms, they should NOT ATTEND CHURCH.
  • Holy Communion will continue to be given in one kind only (the bread wafer) for the time being.
  • Coffee after the 9.30 services is served in the large hall
We feel that these guidelines are the most sensible way of keeping everyone safe.

Support All Saints by sponsoring the church floodlighting. Celebrate a special event by sponsoring the church floodlighting for a week or more, with the opportunity for a mention in the church notices and the monthly newsletter. Suggested donations £20 in the winter months and £15 in the summer. Floodlighting sponsorship form

Online donations are now possible through the website. Please click the donate button.

Get Involved at All Saints

House Groups

House Groups meet in homes around the parish, mostly in the evening, but some daytime. During the covid-19 lockdown these continue to meet on Zoom if it is not possible to meet in person. There are between seven and twelve people in each group. We have a flexible programme of Bible study and discussions. House groups usually meet in term times and break up during Lent for an ecumenical programme of study up to Holy Week. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join a House Group. Please contact Rosemary Kempsell, telephone, 020 8657 0482 or Jeremy Groombridge jeremy@sanderstead-parish.org.uk if you would like to join a house group or for more information.

Green Team

All Saints has a lively green group which organises recycling events and provides information on how to live more sustainably by reducing energy and water consumption and purchasing carbon offsets for air travel.

Mothers' Union

Sanderstead Parish Mothers' Union includes members from all four churches in the parish. We meet for a varied programme of talks and acitivities monthly, and unite with regular prayer and a nmonthly communion service. Please contact the Parish Office parish.office@sanderstead-parish.org.uk for more information.

Men's Group

Weekly walks on a Wednesday, monthly curries on the third Thursday and occasional other outings. Contact Trevor Hewitt 07719 010112, or Dick Hibberd, 07775 824743 or Tony Robinson, 07714 837318. Check the events list for more information about our special outings.

All Saints has a small and dedicated robed choir which, special occasions apart, rehearses from 7.30pm – 8.30pm on alternate Fridays in preparation for Choral Eucharist on the first and third Sundays of the month. There is no formal audition for choir membership, although it would be anticipated that members would be able to follow the overall shape of a musical line at the correct pitch. The choir would welcome new members of any age or voice, providing an ideal opportunity for anyone seeking that unity in diversity offered through part singing in a sacred setting, while not being unduly demanding on time commitment. Enquiries should be directed to the organist and choirmaster, Mr John Jones, via the Parish Office parish.office@sanderstead-parish.org.uk Tel: 0208 657 0665.

Two Teams of handbell ringers are based at All Saints. The SAS ringers, who rehearse on a Monday evening, and the 2 O'Clock Bells, who rehearse on Monday afternoon - at 2 o'clock! Both teams would welcome new members who can commit to regular practices. Please also enquire of the teams if you would like to hear us play. More details can be found on our website - www.sandersteadbells.org.uk
