Welcome to All Saints

We seek to Extend God’s Welcome to All!

People have been coming to All Saints church in Sanderstead for over 800 years to meet with God. Of course, over the years many things have changed, but one remains the same: at the heart of church life is Jesus Christ, God’s Son, who gave his life by dying on the cross so that all might be forgiven and enjoy eternal life.

This good news is for everyone without exception. Do take a few moments to read more about activities for both children and adults.

Churchsuite

We are learning to use our new "Churchsuite" admin system in All Saints, which will make the work of the Parish Office easier and help us to communicate with each other more effectively. Already Rosanne has used it to draw up the rotas for the next three months and is really pleased with it. The church calendar is now available on this website in addition to the events listings. You can find it on  sanderstead-parish/pages/calendar bear with us as we learn more about using the calendar effectively and add more events to the list.

Jeremy writes about VICTORY....

“We are more than conquerors through him who loved us” says Paul in Romans 8:37.   I’ve just been watching a programme featuring Canon Andrew White (the   Vicar of Baghdad) who makes this his theme almost everywhere he goes.  Few have known more than he the trials and tribulations of ministry in the most extreme of environments - yet he remains positive, joyful and calm constantly quoting those wonderful words....

"Prayer"   As followers of Jesus Christ, are we praying as he instructed? "Father, Thy Kingdom come."  This time, between Ascension-tide and Pentecost, is a time for focussed prayer. All Saints will be open on Wed 5th and Thurs 6th June, 9am - 8pm, with 'prayer stations' to help us pray, (and other Sanderstead churches will be open for prayer too, see pages 3-5) ..... I really do hope that many will take time out of busy lives to come and pray. Let's not imagine we have to be experts; let's just do what Jesus asked - pray! It works.

Get Involved at All Saints

House Groups

House Groups meet in homes around the parish, mostly in the evening, but some daytime. There are between seven and twelve people in each group. We have a flexible programme of Bible study and discussions. House groups usually meet in term times and break up during Lent for an ecumenical programme of study up to Holy Week. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join a House Group. Please contact Rosemary Kempsell, telephone, 020 8657 0482 or Jeremy Groombridge jeremy@sanderstead-parish.org.uk if you would like to join a house group or for more information.

Green Team

All Saints has a lively green group which organises recycling events and provides information on how to live more sustainably by reducing energy and water consumption and purchasing carbon offsets for air travel. If you would like to know more or even better join the group please contact Richard Bird at birdrichard385@googlemail.com.

Mothers' Union

Sanderstead Parish Mothers' Union includes members from all four churches in the parish. Click here for the current programme For more information please contact Rosemary Kempsell, 020 8657 0482, email rosemary@kempsell.freeserve.co.uk.

Men's Group

Weekly walks on a Wednesday, monthly curries on the third Thursday and occasional other outings. Contact Trevor Hewitt 07719 010112, or Dick Hibberd, 07775 824743 or Tony Robinson, 07714 837318. Check the events list for more information about our special outings.

Choir

All Saints has a small and dedicated robed choir which, special occasions apart, rehearses from 7.30pm – 8.30pm on alternate Fridays in preparation for Choral Eucharist on the first and third Sundays of the month. There is no formal audition for choir membership, although it would be anticipated that members would be able to follow the overall shape of a musical line at the correct pitch. The choir would welcome new members of any age or voice, providing an ideal opportunity for anyone seeking that unity in diversity offered through part singing in a sacred setting, while not being unduly demanding on time commitment. Enquiries should be directed to the organist and choirmaster, Mr John Jones, via the Parish Office parish.office@sanderstead-parish.org.uk Tel: 0208 657 0665.

Handbells

Two Teams of handbell ringers are based at All Saints. The SAS ringers, who rehearse on a Monday evening, and the 2 O'Clock Bells, who rehearse on Monday afternoon - at 2 o'clock! Both teams would welcome new members who can commit to regular practices. Please also enquire of the teams if you would like to hear us play. More details can be found on our website - www.sandersteadbells.org.uk
