Jeremy
quotes from Thomas Hardy's poem "The Darkling Thrush"...
An aged thrush, frail,
gaunt, and small,
In blast-beruffled plume,
Had chosen thus to fling
his soul
Upon the growing gloom.
Hardy wonders what could possibly be the cause of "carolings of such
ecstatic sound". Nothing in these bleak surroundings could have prompted
such a joyful outburst. The only conclusion he could reach was that the bird's singing must have been
inspired by "Some blessed hope, whereof he knew and I was
unaware"....
If all you see around you feels full of hopelessness, turn your eyes upon Jesus
Christ, the hope of the world. It will bring a completely fresh perspective to
life!
